First discussion and pollThis is a featured page

Hi people. Here's our wiki to discuss what we're going to film this year. Have a think about the options (check them all out here) and then tell us your top choice, and then vote on the poll below. To make sure that everyone has a say and so we have a bit of of sharing ideas as well, add a comment below telling us why you voted for what you chose. When everyone's voted we'll narrow the options down to the top two and then have a discussion, and hopefully in the end reach a consensus.

Have a great holidays,

Mr Haig

Hey i did the poll, i voted for online gaming.
I think its a pretty rad idea, and we could go in depth with it.

So, we have our two top choices, teen depression and online gaming addiction.
Well done, they were interesting pitches and your presentations and preparation made it clear we could actually make a documentary about them.

We've set our selves a bit of a challenge though. Both of these pitches are about issues rather than events so the filming is not going to be easy (unlike if say we were following the Stage Challenge);we'll have to be really well planned and organised.

There are two interesting things about these choices that I noticed. Firstly, they really have a lot in common, both of them are 'teen' isssues and both relate to mental health. Secondly, it looked to me like it was pretty much all boys who voted for gaming, and girls who voted for depression.

This lead me to think maybe we can combine the two in our final documentary. How about we look at the main mental health issues confronting teenagers today through the different perspectives of boys and girls. Maybe the main question we could ask is "Is it harder to be a teenage girl or a teenage boy?" In some ways this sets it up as a bit of a competition, we could look at things like, do girls have worse peer pressure to deal with, do boys tend to have less friends, why are boys more likely to be addicted to computer games and girls more likely to self harm?

So, tell me what you guys think? Does this sound interesting? Is it focussed enough? What are some other questions we could ask? Who would our target audience be? Who would feature in it? What would other topics of interest be within the overall topic?

If you want to add your opinion just go to easy edit and type below here. Make sure to put your name at the end.
Mr Haig
i think this is a really good idea and it would be interesting to see if guys or girls have it tougher and why , also does each gender think that there the ones who have it tougher
elle
i think its a good idea because it sees how boys and girls live in their teenage life and how they cope with their own problems.

i think that maybe we should see if teenagers being depressed has anything to do with there home and what their family is like.
